CSi introduces i-VeyorŽ

This year, CSi celebrates 40 years in the business of providing total logistics system solutions. The year 2004 is also the year where CSi introduces their new series of pallet conveyors, named Pallet i-VeyorŽ. The new pallet conveyors are of a mechatronical design based on proven performances and experience combined with modern technology. With these standardised and modular conveyors, any given pallet transport system can be created. By making the best use of high quality material, the operational costs are kept to a minimum and an extremely high degree of reliability and system availability is achieved.  High availability, high reliability and cost effectiveness were the key design criteria for this new line of products.

Integrated control concept
Because of the integrated control concept, a considerable cost and time saving schedule can be achieved on the design, installation and commissioning of a new installation. The conveyors are controlled by a standard control cabinet, equipped with industrial PC (IPC) and a touch screen. One control cabinet is able to control 40 conveyor modules. For communication with higher control systems like ERP, the IPC has a standard Ethernet connection available. To optimise the modular concept, all sensors are connected to the control cabinet by the plug and play field wiring enabling additional sensors to be easily added. The conveyors have integrated cable-trunks in the construction for the field bus I/O and power cables.

The standard software modules have proven their stability and reliability in the field. These modules only need to be parametrically configured. PLC programming has been replaced by configuring the layout and defining the material flow. The software is real time, multitasking and event driven, guaranteeing very high system availability. The user-friendly graphical interface provides on-line extended monitoring functionality and system intervention possibilities. With the General Food Law coming into effect, reliable tracking and tracing functionality is essential and comes as standard in the software.

Gentle product handling
All motors are frequency controlled (Movimot) providing soft start and stop in combination with adjustable speeds. This way unstable loads can also be handled at maximum capacity. The roller conveyors are executed in stainless steel with standard guiding disks for pallet guiding. All functions are electrically controlled therefore no additional pneumatic provisions are required for the system.

Operations and maintenance
The user-friendly operating touch screen provides on line system data and control access. The on screen recovery function consists of standard manual controls on all conveyors in 2-way transport direction. The system complies with the high safety standard. No sensor adjustment is required when using ultra sonar sensors for product detection. All sensors are integrated into the conveyors and cannot be damaged by passing products and/or persons.

High quality components and material have been selected to ensure minimum wear and tear and low maintenance attention. Because of the high level of standardisation only a limited number of spare parts are required. Should a component become defective then it can be replaced fast and easily due to the modular design and the plug and play concept, minimizing the down time of the system. The lockable motor isolator switches make is possible to ensure safe maintenance. The easy to configure standard software modules provide fault-tracing capabilities and also make it possible for the customer to make future system modifications. All this leads to minimum operational and maintenance costs.
