Ergonomic system facilitates physical  work
CSi received million order from the Dutch TPG Post

CSi in Raamsdonksveer, the Netherlands, is awarded an significant order by  the Dutch TPG Post. In six distribution centers, 25 bin destacking, overturning- and stacking-systems , especially developed by CSi, will be installed. The system are to relieve TPG employees from strenuous physical work. After a carefull evaluation of a pilot project the system proves not only to be ergonomic but also cost-effective and reliable. The total order has a value of over 8 Million Euro.

In 2000, CSi was approached to develop an innovative bin destacking-, stacking-and overturning system for heavy post. CSi- Projectmanager Marco Verhoef: ”TPG used an infeedsystem for heavy mail pieces where the post had to be feed in manually. This is strenuous physical work and require a lot of manpower. We were asked to develop an efficient solution whereby manually lifting and overturning of heavy post bins is no longer required . Ergonomics is the key word.” At the end of 2001 a pilot system was installed in the distribution center in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands.

Unique system
The installation of CSi makes it easy for the TPG employees to handle a large amount of heavy post. This system is able to handle 20 filled bins at the same time. The installation destacks, empties and restacks the bins. As soon the bins arrive the sorter of TPG, the second part of the installation become operational. The post workers overturn the bins by operating a lever and push the post onto the sort table by other hand. The empty bins return and the system restacks them on a dolly for further transportation.

Successful evaluation
After the inspection of the pilot project, CSi receives the order for installing three further systems. After an intensive evaluation TPG was extremely satisfied. The installation has proven to be efficient and ergonomic. Return of investment, the performance of the sorter and the reliability of the system are fulfilling the expectations. Furthermore the installation is easy to operate. CSi will installed a total of  25 systems in the six distribution centers. By the end of May 2004, all installations have to be operational.

Also post companies from Denmark, Belgium and Germany has shown interest in these installations Liberalization of the post market means that national markets will not longer be served by monopolies. The cost-saving system from CSi can be in many respects interesting.
